About WifNet
Who writes WifNet, how we test WiFi and internet claims, and the editorial rules that decide what we recommend.
WifNet is an independent guide to home internet in Malaysia. We explain why WiFi fails, how to test it properly, and how the country's fibre and 5G options actually differ — without pretending one provider is best for everyone.
We are not an internet service provider. We do not sell plans, routers or installation services, and no provider can pay to change a recommendation.
Why this site exists
Most "best ISP" pages are written to earn a commission. They compare headline download speeds, ignore upload, and never mention that the router in your TV cabinet is the reason your 300 Mbps line feels like 30.
The gap we want to fill is technical honesty:
- Diagnose before buying. A speed test done over WiFi tells you almost nothing about your line.
- Placement beats hardware. Moving a router two metres often beats spending RM800 on a new one.
- No invented numbers. Where we quote a price, we say when we checked it and link the provider's own page. Where we don't know, we say so.
Who writes it
WifNet is written by people who install and troubleshoot fibre and WiFi for a living in Malaysia — high-rise risers, terrace houses with concrete slabs, and the specific misery of a router installed inside a metal DB box.
That background shapes the advice: we start from the physical layer, because that is where most problems actually live.
How we test
- Claims about speed, range and band behaviour come from measurements in real homes, not from datasheets.
- When we describe a provider's plan or promotion, we check the provider's own page and record the date.
- Where a claim depends on your building — evening congestion, fibre availability — we say so instead of generalising.
Corrections
If something here is wrong, outdated or unfair to a provider, tell us and we will fix it. Email hello@wifnet.com with the page URL and what you believe is incorrect.
Editorial independence
- No provider has editorial input.
- If we ever add affiliate links, they will be disclosed on the page and will not change rankings, which are based on the technical fit for a stated household.
- We do not accept payment for positive coverage.
